Ocean Safety are marine safety equipment specialists offering a high quality range of life saving equipment including liferafts, lifejackets, EPIRBs and pyrotechnics to both the leisure and commercial markets.

Ocean Safety hardly need an introduction to the Royal Escape fleet as they make a regular appearance at our pre-race skippers briefing where they demonstrate a life raft and other personal safety equipment. Going through the basics and underlining the many ways in which neglected equipment can fail is a real education, and I suspect that afterwards everyone present feels the need to have a very close look at all the life jackets on board.

When did you last check your safety gear?

Our local dealer for Ocean Safety is SMR Marine and it was whilst talking to them that we had an idea for 2010. If you do realise that your safety gear needs replacing, finding out on the day before the race is not great, so SMR are inviting Ocean Safety to come along and give an evening talk on safety well before the race at both Sussex and Sovereign Harbour yacht clubs. You'll then be able to source anything you need, hopefully through SMR, in plenty of time to enjoy a safe race.
